Pat Hodson has used words and fragments of words to visualise a limitless sea - a shifting blue phosphorescent haze through which a single poem drifts. The poet, Liz Cashdan imagines 'Sea' murmuring , talking to Shakespeare, accusing him of causing chaos .

Voice of Sea evolved from a sound and image production 'Sea Speaks', by the collaborative group LPJ productions (Liz Cashdan, Pat Hodson, Jessica Rowland). It was exhibited as part of the 'Shakespeare Now' exhibition at the Liverpool Central Library in 2016.

The book followed later that year and was first printed and hand constructed in 8 numbered copies. One copy was exhibited as part of the "Telling in Full exhibition at Lancaster University as part of the Lancaster Words Festival.

This edition was re-designed in 2018, but production was put on hold. It was finally commercially printed in 2024
