Imperfect Rose - Remnant

A book about change , ageing, disintegration and the loss of perfection.
Drawings of a rose were deconstructed and then Lasercut .
Materials : Lutrador non woven Polyester

Second of a series of improvisations and non alike books. Each of these books begin with the same starting point, the rose drawing. Deconstructed they evolve and each takes their own direction – in materials, drawings, formats. Here, the apparently fragile cut pages are made from Lutrador, a strong, synthetic paper.

Imperfect Rose

Improvisation 1 : Silk and Plastic

Drawings and patterns, Inkjet printed on silk which is waxed, then interleaved with plastic.

Seepage: Improvisation no 1

Layered Abaca Tissue, Epson Ultrachrome inks, wax.

‘Seepage’ was a first response to words which described earth colours in a poem sequence by Liz Cashdan. It was also a response to the landscape of Iceland which we both experienced, and which inspired Liz to write the poem.

In Seepage, I deconstructed the poem - isolating and layering a pattern of words with colour and deconstructed drawings, colour notes and photo notes.

With thanks to Liz Cashdan for use of the words
