These digital images are made up from layers of imagery – some generated in software programmes, some imported from sketchbooks – including visual and written notes, fragments of photos, found ephemera - maps, diagrams – each significant to the idea. On screen, the separate reality of each is subsumed – fused into something new. The process on screen is, like any other drawing, an exploration of possibilities. However, the layers which make up a digital composition can preserve each separate element, enabling a whole series of improvisations around one idea. |
